But, after the patients have an exposure to Asbestos, the thin fibers of Asbestos enter the body and reach the Mesothelium cells. The onset of the malignancy (cancer) is marked by the entry of Asbestos in the cells, which further hinders with the normal cell division and growth. The cells grow beyond the normal size and divide uncontrollably. The cancer cells pile up on top of ach other and cause collection of fluids between the different membranous layers. The collection of fluid results in the impaired functions of the organs that under-lie these membranes due to the pressure that builds up continuously.
So far, no other reasons have been registered by the doctors for the development Mesothelioma. Smoking is one such issue that has been indicated by the doctors that has an effect on people who have already had a contact with Asbestos.
