Epithelial Mesothelioma

Epithelial Mesothelioma is the most commonly occurring kind of Mesothelioma. This form of malignant Mesothelioma finds its occurrence mostly around the lungs and related areas. The causative agent for the same is Asbestos. Asbestos enters the air spaces after getting inhaled with the intake of the air from the surroundings and then it lodges in the pleural spaces penetrating through and causing a disruption in the normal cell division process. As the Asbestos enters at the cellular level it starts playing its role and causes uncontrolled division of the cells and improper growth of the cells, that are tagged Malignant later.

The symptoms of malignant Mesothelioma include the following:-
  • Viral Fever
  • Dyspnoea (difficulty in breathing)
  • Persistent cough for a long stretch of time
  • Deep pain in the chest
  • Pneumonia.
  • Weight loss
  • Nausea
  • Effusion
  • Swelling
  • Anemia
Most of the times it is really tough to diagnose this form of Mesothelioma. A person who has been exposed to asbestos for 5 years and more present higher risks of Mesothelioma. Due to this high period of latency in Mesothelioma, it is really tough to cure it. Because by the time it is identified the human body is in a bad shape and the effect of Mesothelioma is full blown.

Although the Epithelial Mesothelioma is not contagious, it has been found that family members of Asbestos workers have a higher risk of developing it. The treatment of Epithelial Mesothelioma is impossible with the use of radiothreapical methods alone, but its used a lot to cure the patients suffering from Mesothelioma to cure them off the disease.
